Quilt-y Progress

Remember this quilty post from way back in January? No you say? Well here is the quilt I started and am now just getting ready to finish. Eek! It's been only 7 months right? Was originally going to be a throw for the couch but will be much sweeter on baby's bed.

It also ended up quite a bit larger than crib size at about 54 x 70 inches but will transition nicely to a toddler bed and I do plan on making a couple more small blankies as well.

All of the patterned fabric is from the Nicey Jane and Modern Meadow lines - I've been hoarding saving it for several years now. Am not really a fan of all the baby blue's and these colors are perfect. If only there were a bit more orange.

Hubby, grandma, and a few other males think it is very gender neutral - okay for a baby but not a little boy. And I suppose if you focus on the flowers, but idk. I'd never choose brown, blue and green for a little lassy.  What do you think - not boyish enough?

Just in case they are right, the back side is mostly brown with just a couple strips of blocks so it can be reversed. Two layers of batting for extra warmth and coziness. Now I just need to add the binding and it will be all ready to go!

 Hooray!!

Tuesday Trigger: Sunshine Fragments

Hello. Just popping in briefly today to post a card I created for the current Moxie Fab Trigger. Had to sit down and create as soon as I laid eyes on the inspiration piece :)

Used PTI's currently released Sunshine set (not sure of the name off hand) and the same colors from the photo but in different increments. Oh and lots of colors of Colorbox's Premium Dye Inks too!

Here is the inspiration piece. Have a great weekend!!

CHA-cago Highlights

Hi there! Not sure if I ever mentioned going, but just got back late Wednesday evening from a trip to Chicago for the summer CHA show. It was a really amazing time full of ideas, inspiration, and some really fabulous friends too. Mind if I just share some tons of photos today?

I drove the 350-some miles there, which really wasn't too bad except for those pesky toll booths. Not much to see from the Interstate, kinda like driving across Iowa.

My roomie Steph and I stayed at the Hyatt. Nicest hotel I've ever been in :)

Monday was for sightseeing and seminars. We saw the bean...

the Roy Lichtenstein installation at The Art Institute of Chicago...

along with American Gothic...

and had a tasty lunch at the Park and Grill in Millennium Park.

Tuesday was for networking - not sure if these hand-stamped business cards are very professional, but they are very me :)

putting names together with faces - (Kirsty from Some Odd Girl and Leah L'Orange)...

meeting scrappy celebs like Heidi Swapp...

and finding out even the most talented in the industry are super-duper sweet (with Teri Anderson).

Oh and there was Chicago-style deep dish pizza too!!

I met my mentor and friend Jennifer Priest (thank you so much for all the introductions and hold-holding!)

whose breathtakingly beautiful mixed media dress was chosen as Editor's Pick!!

A couple of my projects made it into the Clearsnap booth and I filmed an actual in-person technique video for them as well. It was like speech class all over again! Eeek!

Oh and let's not forget all the new products! But this is getting kinda lengthy, so I will save them for another post :)

Hope your week has been great! Hugs ♥
